Titanium has beautiful coloring

The metal color of titanium has a sense of quality.

Titanium is beautiful

Ibushi silver, Bizji color, Primary color, freedom.

With more than 100 kinds of luxury + coloring, you can make "only my titanium"

When you say "This ○ ○ is made of titanium", there is some feeling of luxury.
In addition to the high class image of titanium like this, you can actually decorate beautifully. Let's look a bit further.

Titanium can color more than 100 themselves, and each can be combined with various kinds of surface treatments (pickling finish, roll finish, alumina blast finish, embossed finish, hairline finish, vibrate polishing Finish, mirror finish, etc.). So why does titanium develop color?

From the conclusion it is said, "As a result of strengthening only the light of a specific color according to the thickness of the oxide film, it looks like that color".

The light that has fallen on the titanium with the oxide film is colorless and transparent, partly refracted, entered the oxide film, reflected at the boundary between the metallic titanium and the oxide film, and then went out into the atmosphere and we The eyes of. The remaining light that did not enter the oxide film will be reflected on the surface of the oxide film, will proceed as it is into the atmosphere and reach our eyes.

In other words, the light that jumps in from one point to the eye is a mixture of light passing through the oxide film and light not passing through it.
This phenomenon occurs for light of any color, and in most colors just light mixes up and it does not strengthen. Depending on the thickness of the oxide film, only light of a certain color is strengthened, and as a result, the phenomenon "looks like that color" occurs. Which color it will happen depends on the thickness of the oxide film.

First, as a premise, light has properties as waves.
And the light has its own color for each wavelength. Sunlight is mixed with light of various wavelengths, and as a result it looks white. If you spectrally split this, you know that light of various colors will appear.

Well, as mentioned above, part of the light that has fallen on the titanium reflects off the surface of the oxide film, the rest enters the oxide film and reflects off the surface of the metallic titanium and goes out.
When the phases of these two types of light are properly aligned, they strengthen each other (= light interference.Young's interference experiment is famous.) So that only light of that color looks emphasized = looks like that color. Whether or not this "phase matching" condition is met depends on the film thickness of titanium oxide.

Wavelength and color
unit: Å (angstrom)

Red 6500~7000
Orange 5880~6500
yellow 5500~5880
Green 4920~5500
green 4550~4920
purple 3800~4550

The phase of the light coming out of the oxide film and the light reflected on the surface of the oxide film fitted perfectly when the frequency required for the light to enter the titanium oxide film is an integer. The frequency in this case is determined by the wavelength and the distance traveled by the light. The distance traveled by light is, of course, determined by the film thickness of titanium oxide and the angle of light.

This means that titanium color can be made freely by accurately controlling the film thickness of titanium oxide. That "the anodic oxidation" technology is "to control the thickness of titanium oxide freely" technology.

Immerse the titanium product you want to color as the anode, using a highly conductive metal as the cathode and dipping it in a conductive aqueous solution and when applying voltage it generates hydrogen from the cathode and oxygen from the anode (= electrolysis of water) .
Oxygen generated at the anode and titanium combine to form a film of titanium oxide on the surface, but at that time it is possible to freely control the film thickness by slightly controlling the voltage and immersion time .

This is the principle of coloring titanium. So in principle it is possible to color titanium in any color as long as it is contained in visible light.

On the contrary, it is impossible for white and black to color in anodizing treatment. White and black are not colors, white is what appears white as a result of mixing of light of various colors, because black is only the concept of brightness (= dark).

And color development of titanium is essentially different from painting and so on, and since titanium necessary for color development is only titanium itself and its oxide, excellent titanium properties such as corrosion resistance and anti-allergic property There is perfection like a hero of comics saying that it will not be damaged at all.

Titanium is truly amazing. However, when forming processing such as bending is performed after anodizing treatment, the film thickness of titanium oxide changes or it is destroyed in severe cases. In that case, of course, it is impossible to retain the original color. Also, when exposed to the atmosphere for many years, when the film thickness of the oxide film changes for some reason, the color tone also changes.

Well, it is a good idea to perform anodizing treatment after finishing processing physically applying force. If made from titanium, it is an iris silver, rainbow color, primary color, freedom.
